It's one of the fastest, most versatile Mustangs ever built by Ford- and now Paxton Automotive Corporation makes its bite even deadlier with NOVI-1000RR (reverse rotation) supercharging systems for all '96-'99 and '01 four-valve, 4.6 liter Cobras.
The NOVI-1000RR features the same double-thick gear case, direct oiling and billet steel, helical-cut gears as the standard NOVI-1000. The difference is that the components are built in a "mirror image" which allows the supercharger to be mounted "backwards," with the intake facing the front of the engine. The drive pulley is spun by the engine accessory belt, eliminating the need for an additional supercharger drive system. At a conservative 8-10 psig of boost, the NOVI-1000RR supercharging system produces nearly 400 horsepower and 350 lb/ft of torque at the motor on 91 octane pump gas - a gain of 140 horsepower and 90 lb/ft of torque over stock!
The Novi-1000RR system for the '96-'98 Cobras is the only supercharging system that features beefy 1/2" thick, billet aluminum rock-honed mounting brackets, and cast aluminum, rock-honed discharge tube. '96-'98 Cobra systems come with a high-volume, in-line auxiliary fuel pump and a Paxton Automotive Fuel Control Unit. Also included is a voucher for a custom-calibrated computer chip to maximize engine performance.
Like all Paxton Automotive street supercharging systems, these NOVI-1000RR supercharging systems for the '96-'98 Cobra are 50 state legal, OBD II compatible, and come with all necessary hardware, plumbing and a detailed instruction manual.
