2010 Shelby GT500 Suspension and Chassis

JMS is a master of making big horsepower with the 2010 Shelby GT500 Mustang.  However the biggest issue with the car is putting that power to the pavement, and we focus a lot on that.  Right from the factory, these vehicles suffer from very poor rear suspension geometry and are notorious for lots of wheel spin and even wheel-hop under very hard acceleration.

JMS has several development cars that are used for new product development, and we race our cars on the drag strip and on the road course.  As a result we learn a lot about and pay close attention to what happening with the chassis and suspension.  Over the years we have amassed a wealth of knowledge about the weak areas of the Shelby GT500, and what types of improvements garner the best results.

Chassis support is absolutely critical to maximizing power output, and getting ounce of torque we can to the rear wheels is important.  Most owners do not realize how much horsepower gets robbed away and absorbed through the chassis.  The best way combat this is by adding simple bolt-on parts such as, st6rut tower braces, lower chassis braces, and frame stiffeners or subframe connectors to help stiffen the weak areas.  Once you start to address the shortcomings of the chassis, you can start to realize the potential of the car.

Suspension is the major factor when it comes to putting all that power to the ground, and our years winning national drag racing championships has taught us a lot.  Road racing the 2010 Shelby GT500 is even more enlightening than just going in a straight line, and to make these brutes handle well is a huge task.  Mustangs tend to have a high roll-center and very poor anti-dive and anti-squat characteristics, which equivilates to considerable wheel spin off the line or off the corner, and squat vs. roll is a formidable enemy at the track.  JMS offers a complete line of front and rear suspension systems or kits along with; rear lower control arms, rear upper control arms, adjustable panhard bars, front lower control arms and light-weight tubular K-members.
